Saint John

Canada's first incorporated city, situated at the mouth of the Saint  John River (named by Samuel de Champlain as he landed there on St John the Baptist Feast Day) and the Bay of Fundy.
We walked around the Market Square and the dock. Some great wooden art by the late John Hooper , an English born Canadian artist.

Called "The Bus Stop"

Also got to see the famous Reversing Falls- a phenomenon created by the extremely high tides (the highest in the world) of Fundy Bay meeting the Saint John River. The water is so powerful it backs the river up and forms much turbulence.

  3. Saint John looks like a pretty city. Funny how the architecture in the Maritime provinces seems to use more wood than central Canada when really they have similar temperatures.... That Reversing Falls phenomenon must have been amazing to see!

  4. I love the wooden buildings- so much character! We saw the contrast between low and high tide today- a lot of water in this Bay of Fundy!
