Moncton

Fun fact- the town was named after  Lt. Col. Robert Monckton but due to a clerical error
the official name became Moncton. Interesting history having first been founded by the Acadians who were  expelled from New Brunswick  it was then reinhabited by a group from Pennsylvania 10 years later. The town motto is "I rise again"
Although New Brunswick as a province is not showing much growth- Moncton continues to grow as a business hub.

We cycled along the Petitcodiac River (also known as the Chocolate River)which borders both Moncton and its neighbor Dieppe. Great ride and lots of families out enjoying the trail.

We also witnessed the Tidal Bore  phenomenom which is another symptom of the huge tides in the Bay of Fundy.
The force of the tide causes a wave to travel up the river - twice a day- its big enough to surf in and there was a surfer today. Crazy
water!

We had lunch downtown  at a microbrewery
The Pumphouse. Then wandered through town
A beautiful church -1881

then found a great campground on Northumberland Strait.
Enjoyed our dinner and a gorgeous sunset!

Looking forward  to PEI .

  3. The water events in that part of the country are amazing! What a spectacular place and the weather (based on your pictures) seems to be cooperating.
