Fundy National Park and Hopewell Rocks

We camped for 2 nights in Fundy National Park - another spectacular location!  The southern border of the park is Fundy Bay.
We hiked along the coast and were treated to some fabulous view points.

Small town of Alma just outside the park

The park is just 30 minutes from the Hopewell Rocks where you can see the very high tide up around the  tall rock formations and then 3 hours later be walking the beach as the tide recedes. Another illustration of the extreme tides in the bay - the funnel effect. Average world tide range is 0- 11 meters but in Fundy Bay it can be up to 16 meters!

A pretty hike this morning along tha Salmon River

On to Moncton...

  1. love the coast line and area generally there Lou.. very much like here and maybe a bit more rugged but so similar as well as to the Oregon coastal highway we took one year with the RV and loved the rocky forms on the shores and the wild waters in the open sea... love it! thanks again for sharing :) xoxo
