Kakabeka Falls and Hwy#17

We drove from Kenora to Kakabeka Falls along Hwy #17. Such a pretty drive through forest, lakes and streams! Arrived at the Falls late afternoon and we were amazed by the size, power and beauty before us!

They are known as the Niagara of the North.

The river is the Kaministiquia and was one of the fur trade routes but the portage was very difficult around the Falls so it was abandoned for an easier river nearby.

The park is 60 years old and is open in the winter for cross country skiing- we cycled one of the ski trails. 🚴🏼🚴‍♀️
