Elliot Lake, Sudbury and beyond

We followed Hwy 17 east to Sudbury then onto Hwy 69 south.
Made a small detour to Elliot Lake area where the McDougall clan lived for 4 years- most of it in the Denison townsite- which unfortunately is now off limits to the public.  We did spend some time in the Mining Miseum there and found a few entires in the town Newsletter that mentioned Angus and Pat. It is a beautiful area that is now mainly a retirement town.

We carried on to Sudbury and had a photo op with the World's largest nickel

A little further drive we found Rivers Haven Campground which wasn't too heavenly in the rain but we woke up to this:

Carrying on now towards Barrie , Ontario
The scenery is easy on the eyes!

  2. I love your write ups, Lou. 👍☺ Once again great pictures that really give the flavour of the areas. I would LOVE to have that river scene to wake up to every morning!! Funny how 2 of the towns we lived in, Elliot Lake and Granisle, are now retirement communities. Never would have guessed that outcome for them all those years ago!😁

  4. Bonjour mes amis. Looks like you're progressing along quickly on your journey. When you get into N.B., and get to Hartland, go across the longest covered bridge - a must see. Hopewell Rocks, East of NB, is also a must see. Moving to Doreen's from Pauline's tomorrow (Saturday, June 3rd). Brenda will be here the evening of June 21st. We will be doing some touring in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. When travelling I will have my Cell Phone: 604-790-2594. Enjoy the rest of your adventure. Claudette
